"Cyber-Safety: Navigating the Net” PARENT ONLY Informational Session

“Cyber-Safety: Navigating the Net” PARENT ONLY Informational Session to be held at Sturgis Williams Middle School.


Hollie Strand, Computer Forensic Examiner from the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office will be coming to Sturgis Williams Middle School at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 19 for a PARENTS ONLY cyber-safety informational Session in the main gym.


During the session parents will learn about Cyberbullying, what it looks like and what to do about it; Navigating the Net, including what your child’s digital footprint looks like, what they should share on social media and what they should keep private; and Cyber Crimes, situations where computers, phones, tablets, emails, clouds, social media or other technology are used to facilitate a crime.


A panel of 4-5 Sturgis Brown High School students will also speak during the event, providing a glimpse into the cyber-world of adolescents and how they navigate the net and various apps. 


Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
