Kiwanis K-Kids:

Sturgis Elementary K-Kids will begin their second year of fun and service with the first meeting on Thursday September 20. K-Kids is a Kiwanis Service Leadership Club, chartered in Fall 2017. K-Kids provides an opportunity for elementary school students to learn about self-empowerment and leadership.

Making a difference within the school and community is what K-Kids is all about! Club members identify needs within the school and community, develop a plan of action to meet those needs, and participate in service projects and fundraising. Last year, after discussing many project ideas, the students decided their first service project would be a pet food drive. It was a great success and the K-Kids had a wonderful time visiting the Sturgis Animal Shelter with the donations.

This year will begin with planning and preparing for a fundraiser, with items ready for sale at the Art and Kraft Festival sponsored by the Sturgis Kiwanis 321 club on Oct 6 at the Community Center.

It will be an exciting year watching the personal growth of each member as the club makes choices on their projects and service initiatives. And then working together with Kiwanis and family volunteers, striving to make the community and the world a better place.
