Piedmont Valley Elementary Veterans Day Program

On Monday, Nov. 11th Piedmont Valley Elementary will be hosting their annual Veterans Day Program in the multi-purpose room.  This wonderful event will occur from 9:00 am until 10:30 am and will include musical selections from the students, a power point presentation, as well as guest speaker LTC (Ret.) Brendan Murphy.  


LTC (Ret.) Murphy received his commission from the Air Force ROTC program at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN in 1997.  Shortly thereafter, he began his military career when he entered active duty in the Air Force as an intelligence officer and arrived at Ellsworth AFB in February of 1998.  Her served at the B-1 Weapons School, the 77th Bomb Squadron and the 28th Operations Support Squadron at the 28th Bomb Wing until he left active duty at the rank of Captain in December 2002.  Additionally, he has earned two master’s degrees:  An Aviation Management degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and an Environmental Management degree from Webster University. 


In addition to the musical program there are a number of activities that occur within the classrooms at Piedmont Valley Elementary.  These activities don’t only occur on Veterans Day but throughout the week.  These activities include essay and poem contest writings, historical lessons, art projects, and letters of thanks sent to veterans and soldiers from the students at Piedmont Valley Elementary.
