See Something, Say Something Assembly Planned at SBHS & SWMS

Dear Parent or Guardian-

Sturgis Brown High School and Sturgis Williams Middle School will be hosting an assembly that aims at equipping students with skills to recognize and respond to any and all bullying or exploitation situations that he or she may observe or experience.  The high school Say Something assembly is scheduled for March 19th at 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. and the middle school assembly will be the morning of Wednesday, March 21.  We encourage parents to attend the assembly.

Say Something school assemblies are interactive and fast-paced, and are designed to keep students’ attention and equip them to recognize and respond to bullying and exploitation. Their media driven programs happen in 3-D, interspersed with short speaking segments, including survivor testimonies.

The assemblies are focused on continued student action and provide the tools and opportunities to help students get involved. Students are challenged to not only help one another, but also to empower one another, protect one another, and encourage one another.  The Say Something assemblies brings awareness, resource and empowerment to students, staff, and parents alike. Bullying, suicide and human trafficking have become epidemics in our society and the solution is to educate, engage and empower this generation.

The topics that are discussed are difficult; sexual exploitation, suicide, sex trafficking, bullying, but the way these topics are presented is both sensitive and age appropriate according to which grade level is being addressed.  Please visit their website for further information at www.SaySomethingAssembly.com.
