Superintendent Donald A. Kirkegaard to Serve as South Dakota Secretary of Education

Governor Dennis Daugaard announced the appointment of Superintendent Donald A. Kirkegaard to serve as South Dakota Secretary of Education.  With the full support of the Meade District School Board, Mr. Kirkegaard will start his new appointment January 1, 2018.  He succeeds Melody Schopp, who will retire December 15, 2017. Kirkegaard has been superintendent in the Meade School District since 2011.  The board will be looking for an interim superintendent to fill out the remainder of the 2017-18 school year.
