Registration and Open House Information:
August 15, 2016-August 19, 2016
Registration for new students is Monday, August 15, 2016 - Friday, August 19, 2016; 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Students who were enrolled at Sturgis Elementary last year or kindergarten students who registered last spring do not have to re-enroll.
August 25, 2016
An open house at Sturgis Elementary will be held Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 p.m., to give parents and students an opportunity to meet their teachers for the coming year.
Please do NOT drop off students before 7:45 a.m. because there is no supervision prior to that time.
Kindergarten: 8:15 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. dismiss through main doors
First grade: 8:15 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. dismiss through west doors
Second grade: 8:10 a.m. – 3:05 p.m. dismiss through west doors
Third grade: 8:10 a.m. – 3:05 p.m. dismiss through west doors
Fourth grade: 8:05 a.m. – 3:10 p.m. dismiss through main doors
Fifth grade: 8:05 a.m. – 3:10 p.m. dismiss through southwest doors

A variety of student activities are offered for the students with the help of teachers and parent volunteers (Volunteer Form). For those interested in helping or who have questions regarding these programs, call at 605-347-2386.
Open to fifth grade students and their goal is to "Rachel's Challenge" and pay it forward with deeds of kindness and compassion. Past deeds raised money for students facing cancer and ranchers who loss cattle during Storm Atlas.
The Sturgis Elementary Student Council is a group composed of students from the fourth and fifth grades. These students represent the Sturgis Elementary student body by representing their classmates by being good leaders, making decisions, and helping the community through donations from money raising efforts. Sturgis Elementary Student Council stresses the importance of maintaining strong character traits.

The Junior Scooper Program is coordinated by the Sturgis Area Community Center. Elementary students who wish to participate in the activities of soccer, football, basketball, softball/baseball need to contact the Sturgis Area Community Center at (605)347-6513.
On mornings when school is cancelled, every attempt will be made to notify the following radio and television stations by 6-6:30 a.m.:
KBHB, KOTA, KAT, FOX, KIMM, KKMK, KKLS, KRCS, KSQY, KIQK, KTOQ, KDDX, KZZI, KDSJ, and television stations KOTA, KEVN, KNBN and KELO.
As an overlay to the announcements as listed above, parents will be notified by telephone via SchoolMessenger. In addition, both the district website and Facebook will run the announcement.
The elementary schools in Meade School District have transitioned from a targeted-assist Title I program to a schoolwide Title I program.
PARENT'S RIGHT TO KNOW
What do I know about my child's teacher? The federal education law put in place by President Bush, entitled "No Child Left Behind," requires all parents with students in a Title I school be notified and given the opportunity to request information about the professional qualifications of classroom teachers instructing their child(ren).
