Nominations now being accepted for Teacher and Employee of the Year
Each year Meade School District recognizes three teachers and two employees for their outstanding service. Nominations for these two awards, Teacher of the Year and Employee of the Year for 2010, are now being accepted from any district patron or school staff member. Deadline for submission of nominations is Thursday, April 1.

The nomination forms is also available at the district office at 1230 Douglas Street, Sturgis, and at all school administrative offices. All nomination forms must be accompanied by three letters of recommendation from persons other than the nominator.
The purpose of the Teacher of the Year award is to recognize contributions of classroom teachers. All nominees should be exceptionally skilled and dedicated teachers of students in grades K-12, should be poised and articulate, should have the respect and admiration of students, parents and co-workers, and should be planning to continue as classroom teachers.
The nominees should play active and useful roles in both their communities and schools, often distinguishing themselves as leaders. The most important qualification to consider is the teacher’s ability to inspire learning in students of all abilities and backgrounds.
The purpose of the Employee of the Year award is to recognize outstanding staff members who are not teachers. The Employee of the Year award is based on a variety of criteria including motivation on the job, performance, cooperation with others, knowledge of the job, school and community service, and contributions to the betterment of the school and the district.
The Employee of the Year nominee should exemplify a genuine commitment to professionalism, demonstrate a willingness to take on additional responsibilities, and exhibit excellence in their work.
