Staff inservice is Aug. 21-23
Meade School District preschool inservice, which heralds the beginning of the new school year, will be held for all staff Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 21-23.
The first day begins at the Sturgis Community Center with refreshments and exhibits prior to the 8 a.m. kickoff. Opening ceremonies include the Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem followed by greetings from Superintendent Don Kirkegaard and Meade School Board President Wanda Blair. The 18 new teachers and two speech therapists will be introduced after which the superintendent will address the staff. This will be followed by an update on district technology.
The remainder of the first day consists of school-level meetings at each school.
Activities for day two begin at Sturgis Elementary School where teachers will receive an overview of teaching strategies promoted in the Common Core State Standards. Instruction in the use of Google applications will also be offered. The afternoon of the second day is devoted to department-level meetings at Sturgis Williams Middle School.
For the final day of inservice on Thursday, Aug. 26, all staff will be in their classrooms planning for the school year and preparing for that day’s open houses.
