-Dates of performance, Monday, March 12th and Tuesday, 13th at 7:00 Sturgis Community Center Theater (all acts will perform for both shows.
-Date of Tryout, Monday, March 5th beginning right after school in the choir room– cast announced Tuesday, March 9th
-Audition tryout form will be posted outside the choir room door On Wednesday, February 29th.
-If selected for the show you must be available to rehearse/sound check on Monday, March 14th after school til approximately 5:00
A successful audition will:
· -Have all props
· -Be performed exactly as it is planned for the performance nights – no intro or dedication without Mr. Torbert’s ok.
· -Be memorized
· -Have a script/lyrics to submit to Mr. Torbert
· -Be original
- -Be family friendly (no overt or hidden references to sexuality, drugs, alcohol, or violence.
Other thoughts
-MC acts should have at least two short skits prepared and be prepared to add dialogue as needed if chosen.
-This is still a variety show! Be original (meaning there will probably only be one or two “girl singer with piano” acts chosen, no matter how good they are.)
-Shorter is better – the audience doesn’t think you are a funny as you do.
-Inside jokes don’t play well with “gramma”
-Live musicians will be chosen over pre-recorded accompaniments.
-Entertainment value trumps classical talent for this show. (“Grandma got run over by a Reindeer” is better than the “Schubert Mass in G” . . . in the Scoop Revue!)
