TITLE I SCHOOL-WIDE PLANN

The elementary schools in Meade School District have transitioned from a targeted-assist Title I program to a school-wide Title I program.

WHITEWOOD ELEMENTARY P.T.O.

We have GREAT things happening in our local P.T.O.

Our organization is a combined effort between parents and teachers to enhance the education of the students at the Whitewood Elementary School.

We held coordinated fund-raisers to help purchase the school's playground equipment in 1995. Parents and teachers volunteered their weekends to put the equipment in place. The P.T.O. again joined together and raised money to provide a new piece of playground equipment in 2006 and again in 2012.

The Fall Festival and Back-to-School Picnic are some of the fun activities we coordinate for the children. We also organize an annual community Easter Egg hunt. Some events benefit the local Lord's Kitchen Food Pantry or for special charity events occurring in the community.

Every year the P.T.O. donates funds for the school to participate in an end-of-the-year field trip for the students and teachers.

Your involvement in the local P.T.O. helps to build a rapport between the school and parents. Your input is greatly needed and appreciated! The meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month in the School Library/Media Room at 4:30 p.m. Babysitting is offered for no charge.

PARENT'S RIGHT TO KNOW

What do I know about my child's teacher? The federal education law put in place by the Elementary & Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requires that all parents in a Title I school be notified and given the opportunity to request information about the professional qualifications of classroom teachers and paraprofessionals instructing their child. You may also request information on the level of achievement and academic growth of the student, if applicable and available, on each of the State academic assessments. If you are interested in this information, you may send your request to the building principal who will provide a timely response.
