SBHS Knowledge Bowl

The 2024 season was a good one for the Sturgis Team. They won medals in two out of the four meets. They placed first in the meet that Sturgis hosted at Stagebarn Middle School. The team qualified for the Regional Tournament.

“Although the team did not do as well as we hoped, they showed great teamwork and strength. I am very proud of this team. They worked together and did a great job. I am looking forward to next season. ” said Coach Jean Karsten.

Knowledge Bowl is a competition team that relies on a person's overall knowledge. It is very similar to a Trivia game. Students are asked questions from every category of knowledge. Some examples are Geography, Science and Algebra. Questions range from ancient history to present day and even some future questions.

The season runs from September 1 to November 15. There are two divisions in the Black Hills, The Northern Division and the Southern Division. Each division holds four meets and then a Regional Tournament. This is the top four schools in each division, plus the one team that scores the highest out of all the teams in both divisions.

The team is made of five players from any grade 9th through 12th for the High School Division. We also have a Middle School Division that is 5th through 8th. Students will need to be eligible to participate, eligibility requirements are in the Student Activities Manual.
