Sturgis Brown High School will celebrate Senior Night on Thursday, October 23, 2025, during the home football game against the Spearfish Spartans. Seniors from cross country, golf, sideline cheer, and football will be recognized for their hard work, dedication, and contributions to their teams throughout their high school careers. Family, friends, and fans are invited to join in honoring these outstanding student-athletes for their commitment and school spirit. Go Scoopers!
For the month of September, Sturgis Brown High School students were recognized for going above and beyond through positive referrals from both peers and teachers. These students stood out for their leadership, strong character, and willingness to help others, demonstrating what it truly means to be a Scooper. KBHB/Kwik Mart Athlete of the Week is Danica Dschaak of the Scooper Volleyball Team. Danica has had a strong season for the Scoopers and helped lead the team to a victory over Douglas with 10 kills last week. Congratulations DANICA!

Sturgis Brown High School is preparing to honor its senior athletes this fall with special Senior Night celebrations. On Tuesday, September 30, recognition will take place during the home boys’ and girls’ soccer games against Douglas. Then, on Thursday, October 9, the spotlight will shine on the competitive cheer team during the Sturgis Competitive Cheer Invite.
Senior Night is a long-standing tradition that celebrates the dedication, commitment, and accomplishments of senior student-athletes, managers, cheerleaders, and band members. Each senior will be recognized in a ceremony, often walking onto the field or floor with parents or mentors by their side. These Senior Recognition evenings give the community a chance to come together and show appreciation for the seniors’ leadership and the mark they’ve left on Sturgis Brown High School.
This October, the FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) is taking action to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month by hosting a special fundraiser. Students and staff are invited to purchase Italian Sodas for $4 during all lunch periods on October 7th, 8th, and 9th.
The fundraiser not only aims to raise money for breast cancer support initiatives but also to bring awareness to the cause within the school community. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink on these dates to show solidarity with those affected by breast cancer.

KBHB/Kwik Mart Athlete of the Week is Jaxon Dodson of the Sturgis Scooper Boys Golf Team! Jaxon has been having a great year for the Scoopers and recently finished tied atop the leader board of the Black Hills Conference Meet. Congratulations Jaxon!
KBHB/Kwik Mart Athlete of the Week is Sully Jost of the Scooper Football Team! Jost ran the ball 21 times for 224 yards and four touchdowns in a win vs RC Stevens.
September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness, breaking the stigma, and showing support for mental health and suicide prevention efforts. The attached flyer highlights the Youth Leadership Team’s Suicide Prevention Walk, which will take place at Sturgis Brown High School on September 21 at 12 p.m. This event invites students, families, and community members to come together in solidarity, walking to honor those affected and to promote hope, healing, and awareness. It’s an opportunity to stand united and remind one another that no one has to face life’s challenges alone.

Sturgis Brown High School students are invited to the 2025 Homecoming Dance on Friday, September 19, from 9:00 to 11:30 p.m. in the SBHS East Gym. Doors will close at 10:00 p.m., and no re-entries will be allowed. Admission is $5.00 per student, and the event is open only to SBHS students with a valid student ID.
On Friday, September 19th, First Interstate Bank will be hosting a Food Truck and Food Drive event in support of SBHS & SWMS Scooper Closets and the Stagebarn Stallion Closet— vital school resources that provide food and essential items to students.
The event will take place from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM on 2nd Street in front of Harley Square. It's a perfect opportunity for families, students, and community members to enjoy great food, give back, and support their local schools.
Cash donations are also welcomed and will go directly toward stocking the closets throughout the school year. Donations will be accepted throughout the month of September.
