
Meade School District students went to Black Hills Pioneer newspaper to tour the facilities and talk with the publisher, Letitia Lister. Students got a chance to ask questions about equipment, job opportunities, and the publishing process. After, students toured Black Hills State University. They were treated to a free meal and got a chance to see the facilities and ask questions about different career pathways.


The Meade School District 46-1 will have a 2 hour late start tomorrow Monday, March 25. Busses will be running two hours later. This includes Sturgis Brown High School, Sturgis Williams Middle School, Sturgis Elementary, Piedmont Valley Elementary, Stagebarn Middle School, Whitewood Elementary School, Atall, Elm Springs, Hereford, Opal and Central Meade Co School


The Sturgis Golden K Kiwanis Club donated a free breakfast to students of Sturgis Williams Middle School today.

The United Nations General Assembly declared April 2nd as World Autism Awareness day in 2008 to draw attention to the growing need for innovative programs designed to support those with autism.


A number of anonymous community member donated a variety of feminine products. Forty bags were assembled and donated to Sturgis Williams Middle School. We are so fortunate to have such generous people in Sturgis who deeply care about our students and their needs.


On Tuesday, March 19th our Special Olympics team competed in the United Basketball games hosted by the United Spartans. Our players and cheerleaders did a FANTASTIC job - and we know that would not have been possible without our Outstanding coaches, Mrs. Lyons and Ms. Skovlund. We also had some wonderful seventh grade student helpers.



Did you know SWMS has an afterschool program? It is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:20. Parents must contact one of their student's teachers to sign their student up. Space is limited to 25 students. The afterschool program is equipped with three teachers to help students.

Additional Vaccination Requirements for Sixth-Grade Entry
1. One dose of Tdap is required for sixth-grade entry IF the child is 11 years old. If the child is 10 years old when entering sixth grade, they have 45 days after their 11th birthday to receive the Tdap vaccination.
2. One dose of meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) is required for sixth grade if the child is 11 years old. If the child is 10 years old when entering sixth grade, they have 45 days after their 11th birthday to receive the meningococcal vaccine.
Please, turn in your child's immunizations as soon as they receive them. We must have these immunizations on file by first day of school.


Talent Showcase Auditions will be held Wednesday, March 20 during 7th & 8th hour.


The first track practice of the season will be Monday, March 18. Track is open to any 7th or 8th grade student and 6th grade students who competed in cross country. You must have a physical in order to practice.

Easter Break


Members of the state champion Sturgis Brown high school wrestling team visited Sturgis Williams Middle School today to wish our AAU state qualifying wrestlers good luck. AAU wrestlers received a goodie bag and words of encouragement from the high school wrestlers.
